RADIOGRAPHY (X-RAY)  |  Digital X-ray Imaging

CRx Flex Computed Radiography
Reliability, versatility and performance in harsh NDT environments The CRx Flex computed radiography scanner from GE Measurement & Control Solutions combines flexibility, reliability, dynamic range and ease-of-use. Designed specifically for applications in non-destructive testing, the new scanner is suitable for usage with both isotopes and X-ray sources. It is well suited for a broad range of applications in the aerospace, oil & gas, power generation and automotive industries.

Versatility

Versatility through wide dynamic range and high signal-to-noise ratio, which typically results in streamlined technique development and higher component throughput. A broad range of thicknesses can be inspected in a single exposure with the wide dynamic range offered by CRx Flex. This capability also leads to fewer exposures and fewer re-takes. All of which saves time and money.

Versatility through use of special inserts to allow it to accept virtually any size and format of imaging plates, up to 35 x 43 cm (14” x 17”) with or without Pb screens. The CRx Flex has also been designed to be compatible with any future GE imaging plates. The special inserts also allow multi-plate scanning as different sized plates can be loaded together in the same plate carrier.

Versatility through its built-in choice of scanning resolution. Users can choose between 50μm and 100μm resolution, depending on whether they are looking for fine detail or high throughput.

Robust

The robust CRx Flex has a small tabletop footprint and weighs just 75kg (165 lb). It is designed for reliable operation in the harshest of NDT environments. It’s modular construction allows ease of servicing and features long mean times between maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize uptime.

Long Life Imaging Plates

GE imaging plates used with the CRx Flex have an EBC (electron beam cured) topcoat to provide protection against mechanical wear and giving excellent chemical resistance.. In addition, the plate transfer mechanism of the CRx Flex is designed to have minimum contact with the plate resulting in extended plate life.

Rhythm® Compatible

The CRx Flex is compatible with the Rhythm software suite, allowing users to acquire, report, review and archive inspection data. The DICONDE-compliant Rhythm platform also permits image enhancement and data sharing to provide significant improvements in productivity and faster identification of defect indications.

Imaging Plates

Our offering consists of different types of phosphor imaging plates.

These plates have special/proprietary protection layers that prevent scratches and damage. They have excellent homogeneity and short response time and have a high level of sharpness at all spatial frequencies.

All odd sized (up to 40 x 33 cm / 16” x 13”) imaging plates can be scanned with assistance of special inserts.

Fewer Retakes

High tolerance for varying exposure conditions and a greater freedom in the selection of the exposure dose.

Dose Reduction

In many cases, imaging plates allow the visualization of all diagnostic information with only one exposure.

Long Lifetime

Imaging Plates are protected by an EBC (electron-beam-cured) topcoat. This results in plates with superb protection from mechanical wear and excellent chemical resistance.

Image Quality

The chemical composition of the image plate storage phosphor material ensures optimum erformance. The material has high absorption efficiency, excellent homogeneity and short response time to ensure high sharpness.

Cassettes

GE cassettes are specifically designed for NDT applications. These CR cassettes are lightweight and very simple to use. Synthetic material provides maximum rigidity and makes them almost indestructible.

The higher radiation energies used in industrial X-ray makes the use of standard medical cassettes impossible. Therefore, the cassettes can be supplied with built-in, front lead (Pb) screens of 250um (0.010”) and are always lead-backed with 150μm (0.006”) to ensure optimal backscatter protection resulting in optimal image quality.
